Malaysia Digital Nomad VISA for Bangladeshis ๐ฒ๐พ๐ง๐ฉ
Hi everyone, Recently I moved to Malaysia with a Digital Nomad Visa, and Iโve been getting a lot of questions from fellow Bangladeshis about the process. So I decided to share my experience here โ please note, this is not official advice, just my personal journey.

๐ What is the Digital Nomad Visa?
Itโs a visa issued by Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) that allows remote workers to stay in Malaysia for up to 12 months, with a renewal option.
๐ Why is this good news for Bangladeshis?
Before mid-2024, Bangladeshis and Chinese citizens needed a bank guarantee to apply, which was quite difficult due to our international track record. But this requirement was removed in 2024, which made the process easier for us. As soon as I heard the news, I prepared the documents and applied.
๐ My Timeline:
-
MDEC Account Created: January 2024
-
Visa Applied: October 2024
-
Visa Approved: January 2025
-
Moved to Malaysia: April 2025
Note: The visa starts from the day you arrive in Malaysia.
You can create an account on the MDEC website anytime. This will help you understand the process and required documents.
๐ Official Frequently Asked Questions PDF
๐ Documents I submitted:
- Full Passport Scan
- Latest Resume
- Last 3 Months Bank Statements
I submitted statements from 2 banks, Payoneer, and even some Western Union receipts. - Annual Income Statement
A simple income vs expense statement showing where your money comes from and where it goes. I included income from projects, subscriptions, and remote work.
๐ Download Template - Client Contracts
I submitted 2 valid contracts (one digitally signed and one manual). Both were accepted, so digital contracts are okay. The average income from them was above the $2,000/month requirement.
๐ Download Template - Statutory Declaration Form
You can choose between a โLetter of Good Conductโ or this form. I chose the Statutory Declaration, which is much simpler. Just print, sign, and notarize. - Education Certificates
Iโm a UK Chartered Accountant, but since I applied as a Tech Nomad, they asked for IT-related certificates. I submitted some Udemy certificates and one from CISA training โ and they accepted them! - Awards (Optional)
I uploaded a photo of an award I received. Not mandatory, but nice to have.
If youโre serious about applying, start by exploring the MDEC website and understand the process. Feel free to ask in the comments โ Iโll try my best to help.
